Like Elsa Said “Let It Go”

Hi my name is NaTania B Parker. My hometown is Buffalo, NY, but I am currently based out of New York City. I am an Actress, Dancer, Singer by career and a passionate lover of my community. I have a branded merch line: NaTania B Parker LLC. I am also the president and founder of a scholarship foundation: NaTania B Parker Foundation Inc. The mission of my foundation is to provide both mental health and monetary support to current and aspiring students of the arts. My creativity is truly my greatest superpower.

I also came to realize that I’m not responsible for carrying the weight of the world.

My biggest challenge would have to be the pressure of the trope of “Strong black woman.” All my life I’ve had amazing examples of them surrounding me. My mother is easily my greatest role model and influence. She makes it look effortless. In my adult life I learned very quickly the behind-the-scenes strength that’s needed to carry such a load. I also came to realize that I’m not responsible for carrying the weight of the world. Just because I can handle it, doesn’t mean I have to.

Let go of those societal expectations and live this life for you sis.

My advise to women: Like Elsa said, “Let it go.” We can’t and do not have to save the world. We don’t have to stress ourselves out trying to measure up to what other people think strength looks like. I redirected my focus from trying to prove I was strong enough, to simply doing everything and anything that makes me happy. I want for black women specifically, just to be the most present, unapologetically imperfect, and blissful version of themselves. Let go of those societal expectations and live this life for you sis. My family, community, and art make me happy, so that’s where I send my energy.

We must build each other up, especially in a society that works so hard to tear us down.

Woman To Woman Empowerment is important because: Honestly, even if we don’t want to admit it, women need other women. We are such complex and unique creatures. Only women really understand what each other goes through. Whenever another woman tells me their story, even if we are on completely different paths in life, I’m always able to take something from their experience and apply it to my own journey. Women are so powerful, and there’s nothing like an encouraging nod from your sister. This world was created by us, but somehow doesn’t always make space for us. We must build each other up, especially in a society that works so hard to tear us down.
